Our Story

Our Mission

This community was built to give women a safe space to play pickup basketball, have fun, and connect with others. It's about enjoying the game together, getting some runs in, and building genuine connections.

The culture has become the heart of this space, and players help keep it strong. The games are self-run, but they work because dedicated players show up with intention — passing the ball, making space for others, encouraging their teammates, and upholding the shared values of fun, respect, and community.

I started SheHoopsLA because I wanted a space where women could show up as themselves, play without pressure, and meet others who shared that same love for basketball.

Over time, that simple need grew into something I never expected: a community of 1,130 women who lift each other up, make space, and care for each other on and off the court.

Seeing it now, run by the community itself, fills me with gratitude. Thank you for showing up, for passing the ball, and for helping keep this space alive for someone else who may need it.
